Life Group Ministry

Life Groups are a modern day expression of the first century house church. The pressing demands of a modern world, plus the Biblical imperatives of loving, serving, and stimulating one another requires a return to the small group concept that better facilitates meaningful human relationships before God and emphasizes individual maturity and ministry.

The Life Groups revolve around seven specific objectives:

1. To provide intimate, vital fellowship as was common in the early church. cf. Acts 2:44-47; Rom.12:10; Phil.2:3-4

2. To provide opportunities for spiritual growth through the personal study and group sharing and discussion of the Word of God. cf. 1 Cor.14:26; 2 Tim.2:15; Col.3:16

3. To provide an environment where the principles of Scripture can be visibly practiced by the individual members of the Life Group. Cf. Lk.6:46-49; James 1:22; Jn.3:3-4.

4. To provide an opportunity for meaningful prayer. cf. Lk.18:1; Col.4:2.

5. To assist individuals in discovering and utilizing their spiritual gifts in the larger body of believers. cf. Rom.12:6; 1 Pet. 4:10.

6. To encourage a lifestyle aimed solely at pleasing God. Cf Col. 1:10; Eph.5:10; 2 Cor.5:9

7. To provide a means of reaching out to new people through evangelism and bringing them into the life of the larger body. cf. Heb.13:2; Mt.5:46-47.

“Christianity means community through Jesus Christ and in Jesus Christ. No Christian community is more or less than this. Whether it be a brief, single encounter or the daily fellowship of years, Christian community is only this. We belong to one another only through and in Jesus Christ.”
